One 57

Opened for occupancy in early 2014, One57 is currently the tallest residential building in all of Manhattan and the first of all the UL-7 buildings available for occupancy.  One57 will soon lose its title as tallest residential building to most of the other UL-7.  One57, however, was the true pioneer of the ultra-luxury tower and re-creation of 57 th Street into Billionaire’s row.  If it had not been for One57’s foray into this market, Billionaire’s row likely never would have happened. One57 has breathtaking symmetrical views of Central Park to the north, as the building lies almost smack dab in the middle of 6 th and 7 th Avenues, between 57 th and 58 Streets, almost bisecting the park.  The building was designed by French architect Christian Portzemparc and the interiors by Thomas Juul-Hansen. The 5-star hotel, Park Hyatt New York, will be housed in the lower half of the building. The hotel, with 210 rooms, is expected to open later this year, offering owners 5-star hotel services, a rare amenity in NYC. The building houses mostly large units in the 3,000 to 6,800 sq. ft. range, but also has some 2 bedrooms and 1 bedroom apartments as well.  The two Penthouses have long been in contract for well over $90 million. One57 re-sales have recently come on the market at eye popping prices (from $6,000 to $6,800 per square foot for apartments around the 41st to 58th floors at the time of this writing). But, the developer still has some units for sale at slightly less prices PSF.
